Journey Groups

Small Groups exist to bring people together and grow in our relationship with Christ. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life with God in mind through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. That’s why small groups exist—to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.

The book of Judges cracks a window into depths of the human soul. Watch a nation struggle with its identity and relationship to its God. Heroes and heroines arise, who seem to have the potential to save Israel. But in the end, each proves to be a broken saviour that cannot deliver.

In this series, pastor and author J.D. Greear wades into the book of Judges to shine a light onto the muddy waters of human rebellion. The stories and truths within are not just archaic tales with no relevance for us today. Rather, J.D. works through each chapter unpacking the truth of God’s grace in the midst of human wickedness, and shows how only the divine can redeem the fallen.

“Prayer is best caught: not taught. To grow spiritually, we have to gather around others, praying together, rubbing shoulders with them; especially around those who know how to pray.” These are words shared by Pastor Jess on the 18th of November.

How true these words are! We all learn how to pray by praying along those who are prayer warriors. God is looking for those who will rise up, stand in the gap and pray. Ezekiel 22:30 - I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for (the sake of) the land, that I would not destroy it, but I found no one (not even one).

Come let us learn together how to pray and experience the power of corporate prayer.  All are welcome, any age! Let us storm the gates of heaven together!

THE GOSPEL OF MARK by Francis Chan

The Gospel of Mark chronicles Jesus’s journey from Galilee to Jerusalem. Along the way, the Messiah gathers a ragged band of disciples. As crowds grow and dwindle on the road to Jerusalem, only a few stick by the Suffering Saviour on the road of discipleship.

In this 11-part series on the Gospel of Mark, author and speaker Francis Chan invites us to walk with him along the ancient ways of the Master. Tracing the steps of Jesus and the Twelve through Israel, Francis explores the major themes of the Gospel of Mark, and asks: Are we willing to take this journey to embrace discipleship?

JAMES by Francis Chan**

True faith produces fruit. A faith without action and without life change is ultimately a dead faith. The book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus. James writes to believers who know suffering, who’ve faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep relationship with God. Through 12 sessions, Francis works through James verse-by-verse, challenging followers of Christ to move beyond a private, intellectual knowledge of God and His Word, to a vibrant faith that impacts every square inch of life. **continued from fall semester.  All are welcome to join!

Duration: Eight Weeks - Bi-Weekly

Location: 109 West Creek Blvd., Chestermere

“For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:20

I love being in nature and seeing God’s power through it. This group is intended to bring people together and hit the mountains for some adventure. Whether it be snowshoeing, hiking, skating, canoeing, etc. I want to have some fun and develop strong friendships.

We will have fun. We will talk about God and how He intersects and directs our life. There will be worship on a mountain because that’s always a party! Let’s be intentional about knowing and encouraging each other, pushing each other toward Jesus and having a good time doing it!
