A gift from God

Every child is a beautiful gift from God, entrusted to us to love, nurture, and guide toward knowing Jesus. Child dedication is your way of saying, "Lord, thank You for this child. We give them back to You, trusting Your plans and purposes for their life."

"Children are a heritage from the Lord." Psalm 127:3

A promise you won't make alone

When you dedicate your child, you commit to raising them with love and biblical instruction, modelling a Christ-centred life at home, and praying faithfully for their journey with Jesus.

And your church family makes a promise right back: to support you in prayer, to provide Christ-centred teaching for your kids, and to walk alongside your family every step of the way.

Questions

Dedication FAQ

What is child dedication?
Child dedication is a public act of faith where parents present their child before God and the church family, expressing their desire to raise them according to God's Word. It's a moment of both thanksgiving and commitment, acknowledging that children are a gift from the Lord. "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him." (Psalm 127:3)
Is dedication the same as baptism?
No. Dedication doesn't impart salvation, and it isn't a baptism. It's a promise the parents make, not a decision the child is making. Salvation comes through a personal decision to follow Jesus (Romans 10:9-10), and when your child is old enough to make that choice for themselves, we'd love to celebrate their believer's baptism. Dedication is the foundation that prepares them for that day.
Is child dedication in the Bible?
Yes. Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord in gratitude for answered prayer (1 Samuel 1:27-28), and Mary and Joseph brought the baby Jesus to the temple to present Him to the Lord (Luke 2:22). Scripture also calls parents to model faith and impress God's Word on their children (Deuteronomy 6:5-7).
What do parents commit to?
To recognize that their child belongs to God, to raise them with love and biblical instruction, to model a Christ-centred life at home, to pray faithfully for their child's salvation and growth, and to partner with the church in guiding them toward a personal relationship with Jesus.
When do dedications happen?
We hold Child Dedication Sundays a few times throughout the year during our regular services. Register anytime and we'll be in touch with the next upcoming date.

"As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

Joshua 24:15. We would love to celebrate your child and stand with your family as you put Jesus at the centre of your home.
