Make a real difference

Every role at Journey changes someone's story. The person who feels seen at the door, the kid who hears about Jesus for the first time, the song that meets somebody exactly where they are. None of it happens without people using their gifts.

And somewhere along the way, the people you serve alongside become some of your closest friends.

Questions

Serving FAQ

Do I need experience to serve?
No. Every team trains you, and you'll always serve alongside people who know the ropes. Willingness matters far more than skill, and you'll be surprised how quickly you find your feet.
How much time does serving take?
It depends on the team and what your life allows. Many volunteers serve on a rotation rather than every single week, and we'll build a schedule that works around your season of life, not against it.
Can I try a team before committing?
Absolutely. We'd rather you try a team, feel it out, and switch if it's not the right fit than never start. Serving should feel life-giving, and we'll help you find the place where it does.
Are there any requirements for serving with kids or youth?
Yes. Because we take the safety of the next generation seriously, everyone serving in Journey Kids or Journey Youth completes a police check with a vulnerable sector search and our team onboarding. We'll walk you through the whole process, it's simpler than it sounds.
Why does Journey care so much about serving?
Because the church isn't a building or a Sunday event, it's people. The Bible says each of us has received gifts to serve one another (1 Peter 4:10). When you serve, you're not filling a slot, you're using what God gave you to build His church and love people.

The bottom line

Your gifts can change someone's story.

There's a team that fits you, and a church family excited to serve alongside you.
